The Dorado, designed in tandem with its 'sister' building across the street, represents a gateway to the Melrose Commons community in the Bronx, New York. Designed to compliment its home-ownership twin, the 58-unit, 9-story affordable rental building allows for a diverse mix of residents who remain integrated through design.

The three colors of exterior brick delineate the base, middle, and top of the building, which also harmonize with the existing palette of the emerging neighborhood. The large windows at the top bring a lighter quality to the mass as the building meets the skyline. Inside, the building's lobby offers a palette of warm materials, such as slate and wood, while the corridors are filled with daylight from the large windows.
